The 37Th Johnson Crane Marathon has a modified route for all distances which is sure to be welcomed by runners as it is slightly faster BUT importantly offers:

So HERE it is there are many clean drives to the parking venue at the stadium, and street parking is allowed (but note not secured) in all areas but the shaded area / streets shown on the graphic.

HOW TO GET TO THE VENUE / PARKING:

Runners parking in the shaded area are more likely to cause disruption to the race by blocking the alternative routes that have been identified for residents and other traffic. Please park where designated and with courtesy for others and the race.

GETTING TO THE START:

There are walk routes shown to the start on the attached photo: PLEASE NOTE: there is NO ACCESS to the start from TURVEY Street.

Contender / Seeded runners will have their own start section.

Awards are made on GUN TO FINISH LINE TIMES:  All runners will be provided with a MAT to MAT time which will be accepted by Comrades and Old Mutual Two Oceans marathon as qualifying times, and will allow to runners to see their actual performances….

RELAX!

There are many people out there – like you just wanting to run -enjoy their run- and gain their goal time…. There is no need to push or shove at the start as your time is Mat to Mat…

In FACT it can be better if we as runners spread out a bit before the start as it will allow us to run more freely and take our own rhythm…

PACING BUS:

The REAL benefit of joining a Pacing Bus is towards 15-16km in the half marathon and 33-36km in the marathon.
Many pacing buses go off too fast in the beginning: the pressure on the bus drivers is massive as they dont want to let runners down, but also want to know they are ahead of time: This is a mistake… we should try ALWAYS to be slightly slower in the first section then build into the race and the last quarter should be our ‘glory run’

PACING CHARTS:The following CoachNorrie pacing charts are provided and have been modified to the 2019 routes:

42.2 KM MARATHON 2019

21.1KM HALF MARATHON 2019

10KM RACE – Go For It

Choose your target time and work to these times to get to the finish ON TIME.
